Learn some history, chump. In 1971, NYPD shot 314 people, killing 93.
In 2012, NYPD shot 40, killing 16. In 2012, the NYPD responded to 246,621 reports of people using or displaying weapons of all kinds. There were 26,019 weapons arrests, including 5,689 involving guns.

Not even. And for the record I never bought drugs, or did anything else illegal. It's why I do not have problems with the police. And I am not white. There are consequences to the choices we make and the lives we lead.

I think this upsetting to because of your own drug use, and you identify with both Garner and Orta. But I have never been a fan of street scum.

If the person who died was white, this entire case would have been very different. I say its time for ALL NYPD COPS TO WEAR BODY CAMS>

I never said I used drugs.......and I know you know how to read mr I got a degree from Cornell.....

Orta? if he has a long rap sheet, then I guess it is what it is, but I do find it interesting and ironic he gets arrested AND all this comes out not too long after this is caught on video AND the death has been ruled a homicide.......I saw the video about garner.....@ most he was frustrated, but he did nothing to provoke the officers.......Im going off facts and common sense.....nothing more....

smh
And if I did and the cops stopped me I would put my hands up, not resist, and follow their instructions. If he had followed their instructions and not resisted he would still be alive today. With that said, I admit that chokeholds are illegal for NYPD officers but that wasn't the point you were making was it? Just race baiting here I suppose....

Hey whatever rationalization helps you sleep at night I suppose.

the NYPD, as well as all police depts exist to protect the rich from the poor. with rampant gentrification, the NYPD assaults are only going to increase. In the non gentrified ghetto, the cops sole purpose is for damage control and occasional extortion (see the Larry Davis story among others)........

Eric Garner couldve been a squeaky clean real life carlton banks or steve urkel and you insecure bigoted cowards and butch arse uncle toms would still find an excuse to justify what happened......

sometimes i swear ppl here are so doggone blinded by bigotry and racist thought that a cop could put one of you guys or your loved one ina chokehold just for minding your business and yall would still give that cop a pass

then again why am I surprised? im @ the NYC board on city data, one of the most bigoted boards on city data....

smh
Thanks for this post. It reminds me why I'm so appreciative of my parents, and strive to be a good one myself. I don't want my kids to ever have to associate with people who have such a racialist world view. By continuing to be able to afford a FAR, FAR from ghetto lifestyle, it becomes much easier to achieve said goal.

I've been saying this for years! The NYPD should open a youtube channel to post every single video. It would smash the thought that cops are the problem even remotely close to the majority of the time. Racialism would be become a thing of the past. People like Sharpton would be run out of business so quickly even DeBlasio wouldn't be able to figure out a way to defend him. Imagine if the world actually got to see a cop's view of the West Indian Parade and not just the first 10 minutes when the mayor walks by? Expose the ghetto for what it really is.

Oh, that and tasers. The cops need tasers, every one of them. They can no longer rely on tactics from the beginning of time which are perfectly legal but cause a racialist uproar whenever they are recorded on camera (nearly every time now) trying to apprehend raging animal savages.

They're not black or hispanic, but let ONE of those Wall Street criminals be BLACK, then the pages will go on for days, weeks, months, even YEARS on how his "background" made him that way.

They'll deny it though.

As long as the person is black or brown (read of African descent or hispanic descent), then the video could show the cop slicing Eric's throat from ear to ear, proceed to cut him open from throat to torso, then manually pull his heart out from his chest and many of these SAME posters saying the cop "had to do it", because Garner didn't turn around fast enough to be handcuffed.

As this case continues to unfold more and more information is coming out about how corrupt Staten Island PD is. They avoid "certain" people and communities no matter how bad the crime due to corruption and looking the other way. They're afraid of THOSE people and a lot are their friends and family.

It's said that there's a part of SI that's still stuck in the 1980s. I believe it.
