Actually, in the 40s and early 50s the area had a huge population of German immigrants. 'Die Aufbau,' a German daily newspaper was headquartered up there and even today there is a German presence along upper Fort Washington Avenue.
Umm...the out of town whiteys, the original whiteys, the Dommies, the PRs, the Jews.....all have as much right to be there as anyone else...and everyone's opinions are just as valid. Nobody owns the neighborhood or has more of a right to it than anyone else....so please do not dismiss anyone....becuase you can also be as easily dismissed by the group that was there before you...and there was ALWAYS a group there before you.
