Not sure what's so funny, buddy. Legalize it properly. Give it to the people to decide. Not some whack westcoast attempt. Thats soft. I see no difference between paying the government vs feeding the black market. Might as well let it stay illegal like in Amsterdam.
Oh, but you pay the government in Europe too.
In Portugal where it's decriminalized no, but in Spain if you're busted you get a ticket from the police. You go to the bank and you pay a fine to the Spanish government, and boom, you have no jail time and no criminal record. Now if you don't pay the fine you can get locked up. Aside from people who don't pay the fine, only serious traffickers are at risk of doing time. In short the government does have it's hand in it, and I'm sure they do in other parts of Europe too. Oh, by the way, one can buy marijuana products in Amsterdam like drinks and edibles and they are TAXED.
Europe has yet to go with full on legalization because of various treaties, but they are still moving in that direction.

Man that’s some tweet. The mayor is literally stating that minorities love drugs too much for them to be illegal. I’m floored.
It's true, and so do white people. They love them too much for them to be illegal. Weed is the biggest drugs, and it's use is as common as cigarettes or booze. It's the rare person in minority communities who hasn't done weed at least once, and this of course is pretty true of white communities as well.
Strongly in favor of legalization. Hope Congress will legalize it and force Trump to veto. He will for sure lose the next election. Young people are overwelmingly in favor of legalization. It's kinda hilarious that a few old tightwads are trying to stop legalization. It won't be long before the younger generation is in power..

Sure, sales tax.
Spain doesn't sound all that different than NYS then.

I don't even think the street level dealer in Spain or Portugal is going to do time. Now if you're bringing it in and out of the country in large quantities, that's a serious offense because of various international treaties and you'll get locked it out.
Are you strongly offended by how the state regulates alcohol? Are you at least internally consistent?
Are we talking distribution or production? Of course production should be regulated to a certain extent, but not to the point of it having to be operated by government. Distribution should be taxed no more than alcohol.

A street level dealer in NYS isn't going to do time either. If they are transporting tons of bud, then yes, there is a slight chance of having to do time. It takes multiple pounds for it to be a felony.
