this is going to rape queens. It would have been better in NJ cities or detriot
I'm already seeing less options for affordable renting and buying on zillow, streeteasy, and apartments.com. Nothing in Corona for 1300-1350 rent seriously? Everything is creeping towards a consistent 1500 for a mediocre studio.
The bids were not leaked to the public but were among the city's leaders. That is usually how negotiations work.
All throughout the process, DC was always mentioned as the frontrunner. Apparently, Amazon really wanted to be there. NYC while attractive was not as much of a must have as DC. If not for the incentives, Amazon very easily could have gone elsewhere, e.g. Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, etc.
Okay, but do you know any of the other bids? Also, where did you get this information that every city’s bid was shared with those of all the other bidders during the process? That is not how negotiations, as in not all negotiations or even as a general rule, work. That is simply one way it could work.
As far as we both know, there are two known bids that are laid out now after they were selected. There is a third bid that was leaked which is the New Jersey one. There is nothing you are pointing to support your thoughts so far, but perhaps there is something additional you know. If so, try spilling it and explaining your rationale.
That is why NYC needs to let them build as much as possible in and around LIC. If there are plenty of shiny new condos within walking distance for the workers to choose from, they will be less likely to come for your run down, cockroach infested flat in Corona or Jackson Heights.

Do you know anything about bidding? Just like an auction, each bid is made known so that they can get the highest bid. It doesn't make sense for them to keep bids secret. Just because they did not release it to the public does not mean it was kept secret to the bidding cities. I am done explaining to you. Believe what you want.

Are you purposefully doing this? No, that is not how all bidding works. What you’re talking about is one of many systems and it’s not clear how you came to believe that’s how this process works. No one is saying that didn’t happen, but there is no evidence to point to that it’s true in this case. You’ve left this at basically saying something you don’t actually know but are comfortable just spouting at random regardless of whether or not you can show it to be true. You call that an explanation? You’ve essentially just made **** up and then pointed at yourself for proof.

You have a strange and dysfunctional definition of rape. This project will be a huge benefit to the city. It's taking an underutilized piece of land, and generating a huge amount of economic growth.
I remember when Queens was a post industrial wasteland. Not far from where this project is going was hooked central. This is a huge improvement.

What are you talking about.. Queens is the last remnants of real NY.
Queens was a place to move to for better life. BROOKLYN was the pre and post industrial SH*THOLE. still is.
NYC has two major universities and a number of smaller collerges. As I think I said before, this project is yards from the Cornell tech campus (as the crow flies. There's a river in the way.) I bet that was a big factor.
BTW,, in the hoopla over Amazon, did anyone notice that Google announced a major expansion downtown. They're putting 8,000 people into the St. John's Terminal redevelopment project. Tech I NYC is really starting to reach critical mass.

Queens is large, and has always had nice neighborhoods. I have a sister who used to live in Forest Hills. That was nice.
But none of those neighborhoods are near this area. This was junkyards, taxi garages, some city facilities, and hookers. The fact that it was so fallow is why there's been so much high rise development nearby. Developers could get land relatively cheap.
