This is sort of like a mixed metephor. NYers who say "youse" are not the same NYers that say "cawfee." It's like electrician from South Brooklyn meet housewife from Little Neck.

I love meeting, or "meeting," fellow native New Yorkers. I have lived almost my entire life in Manhattan.
Born: Upper West Side
Childhood: Upper West Side, Morningside Heights
Adulthood: Morningside Heights, Washington Heights
Lived in CT for 4 years (college) and in Europe for 1 year (study abroad), but otherwise have always lived in Manhattan. Also, my mother was born in Manhattan and my father moved to Manhattan at age 8, so both of my parents are also New Yorkers. And both sets of grandparents lived for many years in New York.
Now I've got two kids I am also raising in New York. They are fourth generation Manhattanites!
(I wonder for how much longer, though. It's awfully expensive here and navigating school admissions for middle and high school is zany . . . the suburbs have started to beckon. If you love me, you'll talk me out of it.)

You're kids have one foot already out the door. Your youngest will be in college in five years from now. They're not gonna hang with you in suburbia post-college and you a Manhattanite will end up being bored out of your mind. Not only that, but all your neighbors will treat you like an outsider and shun you because you haven't lived there since they landed on Plymouth rock. You're gonna want come back. Only then, whatever holding you have now will have gone up by 5x the amount and you won't have the funds to come back. Don't go.
