My initial reaction was yes, but the longer I've lived here I've come to realize that the landed gentry of the NYC suburbs lean further to the right than one might expect. These folks like to attach themselves to the label of Democrat/Liberal/Progressive, but they are fiscal Conservatives at heart and vote as such. Many have sizable retirement investments, so an increase on capital gains tax or a wealth tax in general wouldn't bode well.

The Republicans have a good term for these folks: 'Limousine Liberals' . They're vocally progressive, but when it comes to voting, they look to their pocketbooks first.
