They don't care. Noting supersedes religious rules for them. Not secular law, not medical necessity. Nothing. If they think god commands them to do it, they will, everything else be damned.
And to some extent they have a point. AFAIK, no one has legally challenged the not gathering rule for religious observances on a 1st Amendment basis. I'm surprised they haven't.

Let them be. Their the same ones who dont get vaccinated against preventable things like measles then when it hits their community they wonder what happened. Let them spread it among themselves, they will learn eventually, maybe.

I work near the diamond district and would often see them come into our building often, in the elevators and halls, for some reason or another. So yeah,..keeping it just i their Own community is gonna be a stretch.
I don’t want to sound like I’m hating on immigrants or I’m racist. I’m not. But immigrants need to be legal with a path towards citizenship and US and NY laws must be followed.
There are going to have to enforce occupancy laws in NYC after this immediate threat is over. There’s a reason why Queens has the most cases and why it’s hospitals are overwhelmed. All those uninsured immigrants with no primary care doctors.
Hasidics are US citizens and must follow the same laws as everyone else. Religion is no excuse.
Honestly I'm not sure what should be done with the illegal immigrant situation, it's just not a good situation.
Many are low income and reliant on daily wages to make ends meet, so self-isolating is going to be difficult.
Being there illegally, they won't be eligible for government programs to support the unemployed.
Unable/unwilling to go to authorities to get tested due to being there illegally.
Also the most likely demographic to live in large households and crowded conditions...
When it becomes personal, like when nanna is denied a ventilator because she’s old and that illegal in the next room gets it. That’s when things change.
