At least at Luv Story, it seemed like mostly non-transplants. I lumped it in with gentrified because it's existence is likely due to gentrification (and it has a hipster quirkiness to it), but it caters to a black crowd and has a black owner if I'm not mistaken.

Then there are places that like Carmelo's and Wilson 101 that consitently have a mixed crowd.

Maybe a gift as it will clean up that area surrounding he building. That whole area is nothing but storage, parking lots, mechanic shops and little residential..

A lot more residential these days and some street level stores and a lot of construction. The large real estate companies are basically making a gambit for turning the whole area south of the Major Deegan into its own mini neighborhood. That’s probably why it got nice things recently like a direct foot and bike path to Randall’s Island Park and why it’s now slated to have parks on the Harlem River waterfront. The question is what the pandemic does to those plans. I’m guessing much of what’s under construction still keeps going for a while.

I took pictures of the area on my walk but they won't load. Wanted to share what the area looked like to those who don't get to the area often or ever. Sorry.

I have seen some hipsters brag about living in the bronx but they always leave out the part that they leave in a brand new building that has a doorman!!

Not necessarily. This city's pretty diverse and you can gentrify without white people. Gentrification isn't an uniquely American phenomenon nor is it it uniquely about white people in other countries. While race does play a part in some situations, there's also a beautiful gold brick road to follow in many more others.

This is the problem here. People thinking and believing only white people have money and can change things for the better. People need to stop with that thinking. No race is better than another. Money likes all color.

Right. East Asians are doing their own gentrification in places like Bensonhurst and Flushing, while many of the typical hippie type of gentrifiers are not white. A lot of the hipster transplants I know in Bushwick and Bed Stuy are Latino, black, and Asian.
