I think the term sanctuary city is a cascade of lies piled up so high that almost everyone believes it. There was a number of slimy policies incorporating the term sanctuary city into the legal framework like forcing a square peg into a circular hole, it was forced and crammed in there until it became stuck.
But I think sanctuary city is simply an abusive lie that too many New Yorkers gobbled up as the truth when it isn’t. NYC has always been a place for legal immigrants, but not illegal immigrant freeloaders. Try not to conflate those two.
What makes the UES special. There are homeless shelters in a lot of neighborhoods. Don't like it, move to the burbs and get a big house with a lot of land that you can control...

Any business employing undocumented workers should be closed down, there, NEW law I made up that would solve that problem.
Next problem is most restaurants would close, due to unaffordability. And Id be fine with it. Much rather have better quality people in the city.
America loves slave labor, always will and when it doest get it, it outsources as far as India.
