sorry to bump this up...but how on earth do you get a apartment in washington heights? craigslist doesnt have too many listed and i dont want to go through a broker...what do i do?

walk around the neighborhood and look for phone numbers on the buildings

I just checked craigslist and they have a ton! Click the manhattan tab, change where it says all apts to all no fee apts., type in your price range and click on the all neighborhoods tab and change that to Inwood / Wash Heights.

The area you are talking about is very quiet, especially west of B'way. Cabrini is very nice and you will have no problems. Very nice and safe area.

I was able to find my place on Craigslist. It is hard because there are a lot of Co-ops.
