I must have missed something as I am having trouble understanding MrsRosencranz's antagonism.

People let cats out all the time; I think the other posters are wrong to demand that the cat be kept indoors.
Cats kill 1 BILLION birds a year, and make no distinction between common birds and threatened or declining birds. Outdoor cats get hit by cars, stolen and sold to labs, and attacked and ripped apart by guard dogs or other larger animals.

People who let pet cats outdoors are irresponsible pet owners. End of story.

Yep, you are probably right. More birds, more cats, more carnage.

"Coyotes aren't the only threat cats face when they go outside—there are far greater dangers. When you allow your cat to roam freely outdoors, even for short periods of time, you expose her to perils such as cars, dogs, diseases, coyotes, poisons, and cruel people. If you want your cat to be safe, keep her indoors.

Some people let their cats outside because they mistakenly believe it's cruel to keep cats indoors. The truth is that cats who are protected from the dangers outside live longer, happier lives. (You'll be helping your neighboring wildlife stay safer and happier as well.) We've got guidelines to help you keep your indoor cat happy."

Do you care about your cats or do you just care about proving everyone else wrong? I mean, it's ok to be wrong, everyone gets it wrong sometimes...

You keep expanding your story to justify your stand. You come up with the deeply detailed story about your victory!!!!

You add monetary value to your story to flesh out the importance of the situation.

Yours is a unique and special story which we should all take to heart and learn from.

Human behavior is as interesting as cats behavior.

No, just the nocturnal ones. The ones you admitted roamed your neighborhood in your first post.

As we say in UNC territory. Bless your heart!
Nothing unique or special about it.

He has security cameras, as do many thousands of other homeowners.

He took an irresponsible neighbor to small claims court, presented evidence, and was granted a fair judgement. Small claims cases are heard daily in every court in the land.

Oh. And God bless us every one.
