I don't think it's tacky, food trucks are quite the trend now.

I enjoyed her post. I like hearing people's personal experiences.

Weddings can be something else. I was asked to be a bridesmaid for a colleague many years ago. Couldn't say no because I had to sit next to her for eight hours a day. The dresses she picked out for us (which we had to pay for ) were these hideous taffeta affairs in shades of black and purple. I looked like a giant bruise.

At another wedding, the boys got a little crazy trying to catch the garter and knocked over the table with the punch AND the wedding cake on it. Oops.

For my second wedding, I flew my parents down to Jamaica with us, and we got married on the beach at the resort. Sounds nice and private, right? No. The area of the beach where they hold the wedding ceremonies is also the beach where all of the guests hang out on beach towels and such. So, I had about 200 guests for my wedding that was supposed to have two. Got stung by a jellyfish the next day.

The universe was trying to tell me something.

I don't think the food truck was tacky. Unusual and trendy maybe, but not tacky.

Except it's not a personal experience when they didn't actually participate in what they are talking about. You know?

If we as adults get invites to things we don't approve or, or don't like...we can simply RSVP with our regrets and that is the end of it.

What would be tacky would be trying to put on a show with cheap nasty sparkling wine and low grade steaks because it's what people expect, but you can't afford it, and eventually nobody really enjoys any of it. Getting a fun food truck that also happens to be way cheaper than $150 a plate at some cheesy banquet place is a great idea, and I personally would have had a blast (and I can't even eat burgers or hot dogs).

Yup! My sibling did just that, had a huge extravagant wedding, renting a vineyard, no less.

Three years later, they are still renters. Like, the common sense...
