But let's just say that my husband, me, my child, and my mother (dad is dead) all just wish we could go to Denny's instead. My cousin hosts holidays because she likes to be in charge of everything.

There is an inheritance issue involving my cousin and her step father and the cousin keeps trying to drag everyone into the fray. Add to that ... she just found out via Facebook that her step father got remarried (much too quickly in Cousin's opinion) and effectively took away the inheritance Cousin assumed she would be getting because Step Dad does not have any blood relatives. So this is only the second Thanksgiving without Cousin's mom, and Step Dad just got remarried last week without telling Cousin, and now Cousin has to seriously re-evaluate her future plans because she always assumed she would be getting a hefty sum of money to live / retire on. Everyone in the family adores Step Dad and his new wife, so we hate being dragged into this mess. It will be tense to say the least.

UPDATE:
Cousin did not say one word about the marriage. Literally not one word. She did not congratulate the newlyweds and she disappeared when the wedding photos were passed around. I am sure the family's plan of everyone showing up at the same time and leaving at the same time saved us all. If anyone had been left at her house alone, I am positive they would have received an ear full of vitriol.
