Perhaps don't talk to strangers for no reason. Problem solved. What purpose was there for you to talk to your neighbor? What business were you conducting? You have even less legitimate reason to be randomly talking to strangers than even a telemarketer who cold calls people does. At least the telemarketer has some business to conduct, however unwanted the initiation. You seemed to have none. Saying "Hi," isn't having business. You are clearly just annoying people. Don't expect to be treated any better than a telemarketer. Just another annoying neighbor who doesn't know how to keep to themselves.

After reading all your redundant, rubber stamped posts in this forum, it appears the only thing to resolve the world's problems is for all of us to move into a cave.

Another alternate explanation is possibly this person suffers from some sort of anxiety issue that makes conversing with others difficult. A friend of mine went through a period of depression and anxiety where this happened for a period of time. It had nothing to do with the other person.

I used to get along with all my neighbors until I fell out of favor with the "popular" ones by pissing them off. So they went and bent over backwards to try to get the other neighbors to be rude towards me. I really didn't care if the neighbors liked or disliked me, they never did any favors for me. As long as they stay on their property and not on mine, all will be well. None of them has dared to bully me since I will be calling the cops on them faster than they can look at me and growl. All is well.
