Like many others my wife and I have been looking into relocating to eastern PA from New York....Ive been researching school stats at both the schoolmatters.com and schooldiggers.com web sites, and while they are both informative in terms of test scores,I want to have more basis then just the numbers they post...Ive spoken to some NEPA natives, and while they know the schools more than anyone else, I also figured it cant hurt to get an opinion from other families that were not orig from eastern PA but live hear now,to get a comparison if the schools are better or worse than the ones from where they came from....Please be honest and thanks for your help!!!!

I have only one child in the SSD. I love love love his elementary, his teachers are excellent and he is getting great scores, he also has some special needs that my former district on L.I. discontinued his services for, but here...they give him all the support he needs. ( the parents driving is another issue, lol)

I briefly had him in Howard Gardner School for Discovery and that was the worst mistake I have made regarding my son and his education. 7 months of virtually just being a sponge. I am not sure what I will do regarding middle and high school, I do not like the scores I am seeing. BUT, a lot has to do with the parent and home environment...so we will cross that bridge later. He is only in 3rd grade.

My husband loves what he sees in our son so much, he bought our home to make sure he stayed in his current elem.

Hope this helps.

We first started out in the DV area and was not crazy with things there. I taught in the high school. We are now in the Wallenpaupack District which I hear is tops and very well managed. My daughter is currently in pre school in MIlford Montesorri, and that school I can not say enough good things about it.

Thank you all for your help!!! Seems that there is more thumbs up then down, which means there is something positive there....Like many of you I was a little skeptical about some of the scores, especially when you compare them to NY and NJ, that always are ridicoulous in terms of height.....
