Marriage is a union of man and woman and the inseparable association of their lives. Gays cannot have that. They can have their version to what suits them, but it's not a traditional marriage most of society all thinks of. A woman in a long white dress coming down the aisle to meet her husband in a church with all of their family and friends there.

We're not racists, we're realists.
Those two especially have a vested interest in keeping the pot boiling.
They would be out of work if they didn't keep their people down by finding racism in everywhere especially Sharpton.
Did you see how they raced each other to be first to LA for the funeral/spectical?
A funeral for a once great entertainer Who started out as a black man with a great talent and ended up as a white imature pedifile drug abusing woman.
Celebrate the musical talent not the person.

How about we celebrate these guys with the same furvor?

Again Ed, your references are CHURCH weddings. Courthouse marriage has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with religion of ANY kind.

Gay marriage will not force churches to perform the marriage. It will allow monogamous gay people who are committed to each other to obtain LEGAL BENEFITS by getting married IN A COURTHOUSE by A JUDGE . (notice....nothing even remotely religious in that statement...)

Bullcrap. I know people who have gotten married in hotels, LV chapels and courthouses. I've known people who have gotten married by a judge in their house.

Their marriages are just as valid as religious marriages in the eyes of the law.

Our country was founded on Christian beliefs. Our current leaders want to make this a secular country and want to take God out of the equation. Our motto is "In God We Trust". I'm not saying all gays are going to hell. If they have a relationship with God and have Jesus in their heart, they will be forgiven for all of their sins and have eternal life.

Exactly. This country was founded on Christian principles, something the libs won't admit, but is true.

I was married in a suit and my wife wore a tan knee length dress. Marriage is not dependant on your wardrobe or your orientation. Marriage is a legal arrangement, not a religious one, as has been pointed out earlier. You can be married in your back yard wearing a paper bag and flip flops if you want.

It's true that the historical definition of "marriage" excludes same-sex couples. However, the argument from history is not dispositive. Because something has always been one way does not argue conclusively for it always being that one way. It's persuasive, in some cases. But it's not dispositive. There should be actual substantive reasons for continuing a practice. After all, if you were being unfairly discriminated against, it isn't that forceful an argument to claim that the discrimination is justified "because it's always been that way."

Shirley Jackson's famous short story, "The Lottery," aptly, entertainingly, and chillingly illustrates the consequences of a town that blindly follows tradition.

Has anyone read it?

No, it was not. Our founding fathers were deists. NOT Christians. Our country is founded on seperation of church and state. Similarly, our country is founded on freedom of religion - which means that you can't make laws for all based on your religious tenets. It ALSO means that gays can't force your church to marry them.

In God We Trust came about in 1956! Hardly a thought of our founding fathers.

Again, your religions should not and MUST not affect the laws of our country. The entire reason our country exists is because of trying to get away from a theocracy. Why are you trying to turn the clock backwards?

If you make the argument that one should marry whomever they happen to love, then should someone be able to practice polygamy? Marry their dog or cat? Hey...if that's who they truly love, then why not, right? Allowing marriage to those other than what marriage has traditionally been for centuries opens the door to all sorts of ridiculous scenarios.
