Vepco is down to 285,000 while pepco is closer to 350,000. I get the feeling that vepco simply gets their stuff done better.
Vepco?

Well, I did just talk to a guy working at Home Depot in Seven Corners who said he's still without power and that they've said his building won't get it for another 5-7 days. Ouch! He said he lives near the HD, so I'm guessing Falls Church or Fairfax County.

BTW, the HD is only selling emergency supplies today, at least at that location.

Hats off to the Dominion power crew guys--the unsung heroes of modern suburbia. Seriously, those guys get way too little credit.
Definitely, some will complain about the speed but these guys are putting the work in and then some.

I agree, I was actually addressing the poster you quoted.

I guess the same ones who say "VPI".

Wow, lucky you! Whereabouts in Arlington are you? We're between EFC and Ballston and lost power for about 1 day--same as the last time this happened.

I'm shocked that Chantilly didn't lose power; we know someone in Manasses, and they lost power and may be out still. I wonder if being near Dulles airport helps; I'm guessing Dominion (and the other utilities) make it priority 1 to keep Dulles up and running, so if your house on the same part of the grid as IAD, you get to surf its critical-infrastructure coattails.

Well, to be fair--if we were being told our power wouldn't be back on till 5 days, I'd be p---d too. But not at the guys working overtime on the wires in 100-degree heat.

Yeah, I know. I went to work at 6am and saw lights out etc. I was talking about my building. I live in an old garden, 1943, off N Courthouse Rd., and we never lose any power. It is great and I feel lucky that any storm that comes through for whatever reason, my power is on. I do feel bad for others though.

As of today, I don't have phone, that is all. I can live without that.

I'm guessing we're not hearing from those still without for obvious reasons.
