Got an email from coworkers checking in. Some of them are still without power since the storm. They're further out though, so hopefully the electric crews will get to them soon.

JILLABEAN UPDATE...
Just got through to Verizon (75 minutes of wait time) and there is a FiOS phone-only outage over much of Virginia. Your power may (or may not) actually be fine at this point. Maybe call a neighbor?

So, how am I supposed to know if/when my power is back on? The family we are staying with is up near Baltimore, so not exactly easy to just drive home to check...I know some friends in Sterling have their power back, but I don't have any friends in my immediate neighborhood (Sugarland).

In Vienna we lost power at 10:30pm Friday. Got it back today, Sunday around 4:30am, so ~29 hours withour power. It was awful... hot, humid, no sleep, no AC, no coffee, no hot food (we have electrical stove). But I am happy that it is over, finally this morning could watch TV and learn some news, and also internet is back! :-) And I am really sorry that there are still many, many people withour power.

We have Dominion Power. I tried to report our problem on Sat. but could not get through, finally the phone line worked Sat. late evening.

Saturday morning we walked to Pan Am mall- everything there was closed. The intersection Nutley and 29 had not working lights. Talked to friends who live in the town of Vienna Sat., they got their power back Sat. at 4pm. Walked through other communities near by, they did have power. It looked that metro did not stop working, had lights on Sat. morning and was running. I guess that they have their own power supply? Lucky them! :-)

Did neighbors in your communities ran generators? We noticed a few running generators in ours.

Hmmm. Look what else is out there. This is the list of where crews are presently working in NoVa. Note that the list is three pages long. But it will give an idea of where trouble spots remain...

Crew Locations

As of the most recent report, nearly 400,000 Fairfax County customers had been brought back on line with another 125,000 still to go. For Loudoun, it was just over 100,000 back with 25,000 still to go.
