Yes, been to Uptown Dallas many times; we have an office location there. Why do you assume someone in a POS Toyota doesn't make money? Many people aren't car snobs, like you. Many people drive cars until they die, regardless of their income.

Please, please , please stop referring to the Tristate area. Where is this? What are the three states you are referring to?

Dallas really is home to what's called the 30k millionaire. Lives at home so that they can "afford" to pay for the leased BMW. Ironic you mentioned that.
I know, never said it was prestigious(well in Texas it is lol).. but it's not some crap school

yea i know it's annoying

So, you are planning on working in Fairfax; but living in the Northeast (PA, NY, NJ, etc)? Have fun with that commute.....

Don't have to be a car snob to make money, i know that. Car's depreciate in value so quickly. But picture going to a bar with your friends to catch the game to see some overly dressed idiot order a drink... Can't tip, over the top rude to the bartender. My point is just don't try to be something you're not. If you enjoy being around that you'll like Uptown and Dallas in general. Or people openly talking about their income in public <-- hate that!

* i mentioned the salary i would be making for obvious reasons to get a comparison and "feel" for what living would be like in VA compared to TX

I only say that b/c of coworkers who call it... I'm guessing it's DC as it's in between MD and VA technically (?)

That I can agree with. AS a heads up, most people here do not have nice cars. There are some awesome dealerships, but the road seems to be full of older model sedans.

i'm not actually a "car snob"

but with Texas's low taxes and my salary it was easy for me to afford a "nicer" car.

my main point is you have a lot of pretenders who DRIVE IN to the "hotspots" of uptown and act like they're somethng they're not. I really do NOT enjoy that scene. You being from the area you would know.

Yes I drive an M series and am complemented for it all the time. And I live right off of McKinney Ave, becaues my very first job was in downtown Dallas(free trip on the trolley).

But i dislike the idiots that frequent, take up space/parking, are rude in the area i live. I only afford those things... well... because I could/can. And living in Uptown was practical considering my job and also b/c i could afford it lol. I couldn't imagine driving in from let's say Plano to downtown Dallas(DART not included)

I've been in this area almost 20 years and have never heard anyone refer to this area as "Tristate". Likely, because DC is notoriously NOT a state. But I guess your top tier, private university glossed over that fact.

Fairfax to southern NJ or PA would be 3 hours each way WITHOUT traffic. Keep adding hours to go further north.

lol, you should seriously drop that "bro"

i can only go off of what coworkers who live/work in D.C. and Arlington have told me. Excuse me if it comes off as naive/ignorant, but other than what they tell me I have only read about the VA area on blogs, Google searches, Reddit, etc... so i really, honestly don't know what it's like

Hence, this is the reason for my post if you couldn't figure that out yet lol
