I'd gladly trade me for the mid-fifties we enjoyed earlier this week.

Nice picture Charles... it spurred some nostalgia for me
That is Heritage Park in the background. I walked through that park every day to go to High School for the three years I attended Irvine High School.

It's beautiful there man. I'm there every MWF from about 11-1215, swimming 2000. There are a couple of Nova masters programs swimming during then and around 1 some local small colleges have their swim workouts. Fun, cheerful, healthful place to spend your lunchtime. A couple Fridays ago I hung around and watched a college water polo match and then went back to work.

We're now considering a possible move into LA County because of a job opportunity. After spending a whole day in LA visiting rental homes and doing trial runs of the possible commuting routes, it renewed our appreciation for Orange County and places like Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Laguna Beach. My girlfriend and I were suddenly in awe again of just being able to visit a clean plaza with relatively few people and great views of the Santa Ana Mountains.

You don't even need to leave California to really appreciate Orange County and how great it is to live here. We may need to make the move anyway, but it's proving to be very tough to find any community around LA where the air is good, we would feel safe, and we'd have the beauty and convenience of Orange County. Any places that approach OC in quality would require a commute that should legitimately be classified as cruel and unusual punishment.

How about Huntington Beach and take the 605 to the 105 to Hawthorne?

We've been advised by posters on the LA forum that any commute from Orange County would be just as bad as anything that we're considering in LA County. But something like HB might work if there was a work schedule like 6am to 2:30pm.
