Now that Rivian is officially in production, is it time for there to be a Rivian subforum?

Also curious as to what projections are out there for this first full quarter of production for both the truck and the upcoming SUV. What order of magnitude are we talking about here? 100s? 1,000s? 10,000s? I'm guessing in total for the truck and SUV combined over the quarter to be in the low 1,000s, but I'm not basing that on anything in particular.

It's a very impressive truck. Wife and I are seriously considering cancelling our Cybertruck and getting the RIvian.

The R1T starts at $67,000? Holy crap that is a lot of money. A comparable ICE would be a Tacoma right? And those start under $30,000.

I like the R1T but having serious sticker shock.

It's more like Ram TRX or a Raptor. It's a ridiculous amount of power and then loaded with options. 835 hp, 908 lb-ft of torque available almost from the get-go, 0-60 mph in ~3.1 seconds.

It might seem like a weird first entry, but I think EVs and limited initial manufacturing output sort of means it has to go for this territory. For one, they might as well concentrate on the premium segment because they aren't going to jump into really large volumes off the bat as a startup building up new technology and manufacturing base. For another, the technology lends itself to this kind of ridiculous performance because generally the larger the battery pack capacity, the greater the possible maximum output it can have. If you have that large battery pack that you need for long range but by dint of doing so also means you have high potential max power output, and you're targeting a premium segment because you need those high margins for your limited output and you already know there are some people out there willing to buy vehicles like the TRX or a Raptor or a Trackhawk, then you might as well fit the vehicle with the motors that can take advantage of that output, and if you do that, then you better put in all the other fixings necessary.

Doug gets a little excited, but this is a very detailed review.

Just for fun he's standing behind a Lucid Air Dream Edition at the beginning of the video.
It's a good looking car.

I saw one in downtown Los Gatos today. Looked bigger (taller?) than I expected.
