My first car was a 1967 Barracuda.

My dad bought it for me when I was about 17. He was into cars and called the thing a classic. I really didn't care about such things. A car was a car to me. It got me back and worth to where I wanted to go, and that was about it. I still hold those views today. Material things are what they are. I don't get impressed by the sell phone you can do 1000 things with. If I want a phone, I want a phone. I don't need to detect DNA with the thing. I found out, with the Swiss army hnife just how useless a multi-tasking toll is and I don't need to purchase something that brings me frustration. Live gives me too much of that already.

As for my car, the thing ended up hitting a wall about 20 miles an hour when a friend of my brothers couldn't find the break in time. I never saw him again and the thing went to the scrap yard from there. I never really liked the thing and my dad had left the family right after he got me the thing. When he came back, it was already gone and a few months later I was gone myself.

The car that I loved the best was a 1964 olds f85

I loved that car as much as I could ever love an inanimate object. It was short and sweet and it was just the right size. I am 5'5" and did weight about 95 lbs soaking wet with a rock inh my pocket. This was the first car I had that I didn't think it necessary to tie a rope to my leg, so if I got into a wreak, they could find me.

I took great pride in that thing till the transmission decided it didn't want to come along for the ride. I was into drugs and alcohol at that time and my priorities had changed drastically because of it. I lost a lot because of those two substances, but I have only myself to blame for that. The car ended up being towed to the junk yard and I got about 20 bucks for the whole bthing. I drank that up and didn't think a thing about it at the time.

I have always loved the late 60's Mustangs. When my dad took me to his buddy's house to give me my first car I saw a Mustang sitting in the garage bay. I was beyond excited. My dad noticed this and laughed at me. "Not that one, Babe...The one over there," he said. It was a '52 Ford Falcon like the one below, only not as nice. That car gave me fits!

My first car was a 1979 Honda Civic CVCC 5 speed manual. Brown in colour complete with a sunroof and tape player. My parents lived a good 70 minutes (all highway) and I drove it everyday into Winnipeg for work. I think it cost me around $3-5 to fill up. A full tank lasted me a least a week. At the same time, a friend's brother had a 1968 Mustang which he was selling. My Dad told me the Honda would be cheaper on gas, and that he thought the Mustang was too old for commuting. Still love the older Mustangs. They're awesome. I made $850. per month (gross), had a car payment of $100. plus my car insurance, and I paid my Mom and Dad room and Board of $120. I lived and partied like a teenage queen!!

My first was a 1967 convertible Corvette. It was the last year they made that style before the Stingray.

But by far, my absolute favorite was the 1988 Nissan Pulsar. I owned two of them at some point and put almost 300,000 miles on the first one. The hard top popped out and I liked that better than the convertible. It made more sense due to living in the midwest and the snow. I drove that car across country by myself a couple times.

First was a 1973 Mercury Comet. It was rust-colored, which came in handy later in its life. Although I don't think mine ever looked as shiny as the one below, even when I bought it in 1975 ...

Favorite was a 1987 Volkswagen Golf. It just ran and ran and ran, had a great sound system, easy on gas, fun to drive.

First car was a hand-me-down from my brother when he went into the Army. It was a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 which looked just like this one:

The first one I bought with my own money was a 1962 Chevy II, well used.

But, my favorite is still my 2001 Mustang, which I no longer have.

My first car?....1976 Camaro

My favorite car? 1986 Subaru Loyale, given to us to fix up...it had 236,000 miles on it and I drove it for 5 years, before finding another one 3 years older, with only 133,000 miles on it...payed 1,200 for it and I love it to pieces. Shift on the fly 4WD...5 spd manual...I adore them! LOL

My first was a cherry red Fiat X-19. I was 18 and bought it myself. I drove it until I was 22. It was totaled when some old goat plowed into it at the mall.

My favorite was a Mercury Cougar with a 351 Cleveland tucked under the hood. It would leave other cars just sitting in the dust wondering what just happened. My ex sold it because Mom's shouldn't drag race! Just one more reason he's the ex!

Now, I drive a truck!

This looks very much like my first car. It was a 1950 Plymouth. Mine was green and also had running boards. My father bought it for me when I was 17. New paint job, new seat covers, a radio that cost more than the car....which was $75.00. ahahahahaha. He bought it from a school teacher in our west Texas town. When I left for college my sister drove it and then Dad sold it for $75.00 to another teacher in town.

The car guzzled oil. The gas gage didn't work (so I kept a log of mileage to know when to fill up) and it was impossible to find tires for it without driving to a Ft. Worth junk yard for replacements.

I loved this car. There is nothing like your very first car. I never left the city limits in it but I sure had fun rolling around Abilene in this car. I called it the Green Bomb and meant it in the best of ways.

What great memories! Thanks, Demonbane.
