That is being done. There is an active Resistance in the U.S. Resistance groups are springing up all over the country (in even the most conservative places) and people are meeting and planning. And DOING.
That mess he called a press conference was Trump speaking to his loyal base. It's how he gets his ego pumped. He knows they are going to cheer him on no matter how many lies he tells and how rude he is. (They seem to like lies and rudeness.) Meanwhile...in the rest of the country....the Resistance is strong.
I love how he is going to have a campaign rally this weekend for his 2020 reelection bid-as if he is going to last that long. I wonder if he will last another month.
I never had a Music class (or Art - our school was Catholic and made sure you took Religion and Latin) but am familiar with that piece of course. It must have been used in more than a few movies and TV shows.
Oh yes. It pops up a lot. Run D.M.C. used it years ago, and they play it from the chopper in Apocalypse Now when they are flying in over the Viet Cong village.
I loved that class. We had this strange little bald, bug-eyed teacher, who told us the story and played the music as we went. It was the first time i had ever heard the Norse mythology. We went through all four parts of the opera. I do remember him saying "God is a myth" and laughing and some kids telling their parents and parents getting upset. Nothing happened to him, though. It had to be 1970 -1971.
The Ring comes up on Jeopardy from time to time. There's a town called Valhalla in Westchester County, NY. It is known for a huge cemetery called Gate of Heaven. (Babe Ruth is buried there.) When I first heard of it, I said, "oh wow, like the place where the Viking warriors are taken by the Valkyrie when they are killed in battle!"
I just got funny looks when I said things like that, so I learned not to say them.

I worked in Manhattan for three decades. When Trump first started running, it was amusing. A joke. I did not think he would get the nomination, but when he did, I still laughed. When he won the election, I was in disbelief, but I still felt he was a loudmouth blowhard who had fooled people who didn't know any better and that he would quickly be yanked under control.

But now...I truly think he is mad.
I have ALWAYS hated him. Refused to watch the Apprentice because of him. Many, many MANY moons ago (last century actually), Hubby (before he was Hubby) and I took our first trip across country together. On the way home, we stopped in Vegas for a few hours (so I could get my casino/slot machine fix ). We were in one casino and then it hit me that we may have been in one of Trump's casinos. I told Hubby that I wanted to go to another casino because I did not want to give Trump a nickel of my money. So, the next casino we went to, I won $300 in a slot machine.
Again, I really don't know for sure whether we were in a Trump casino or not. Just the thought that we MIGHT be, we left. Even back then I hated him. Little did I know that he would be in a position to destroy this country.

We've been boycotting all-things-Trump (and family) since the early 80's.
What I wonder is whether the Vikings represent Trump or Bernie Sanders or what. Viking ships were the nuclear submarines of their time -- the terror people must have felt when they saw them coming up the river must have been just as bad as what the Vietnamese villagers must have felt when they saw a detachment of swift boats coming up the delta at them.
And as we know from reading ibn Fadlan, the ancient Norse considered anything they found in the mist to be potentially an evil spirit. So if they themselves are hiding in the mist..!
Hmmm. Ragnar and his Viking warrior wife drift into Washington... hmmm, I think the Orange thing would cease to be much of a problem. Love the orange thing as a name too. I'd love to see what the hairline really is if you chop back the surf and hair spray shaped comb over.
What's so fascinating about the Norse is they were sheer terror to their conquests, but had a rather stable society at home. I wonder when my ancestors, mixed british farmers and a norse named spurg whose kids were named in the British style as Spurgeon, came on the scene. I was delighted to find out I probably have anglo/norse ancestry.
As far as the combed over orange one, he must get all giddey if he watches Colony with all those 300 foot walls the aliens sliced up the landscape with.

Ah, but that takes the fun away. It's when people stop talking and look at you like your wierd that you know they are actually listening Kinda like the way people act at a convention when a group still in hall costume go out to eat other than the hotel. Makes it even more fun.

Just from his more recent campaign demonstrations, I have to agree. He doesn't care about anyone else, and disregards known facts if they don't correspond. What I find especially frustrating right now is while I can't stand him, my inlaws seem to think he's doing great. So no politics are mentioned.
He seems to be getting worse, and I wonder just how out of touch with reality he has to be before they notice.

I never watched The Apprentice.
I spoke with him on the phone once. That was in 2014. Met Ivanka, too, then and back in 2010 related to the same project. Very impressed with her.
Never on a million years thought two years later he would be elected President.
