This place is so quiet again. I noticed there aren't many new threads....just wondering why.

1. It's always quieter on the weekend.
2. This forum is so full of drama that one can be attacked for almost anything they post even when intentions are good. It gets old and people stop posting.

IMHO of course.

I know. I honestly don't feel like posting any new threads anymore. I don't have the energy to deal with it. I'm working again now and let me tell you it is not easy to get 3 young children out the door by 7AM.
On another note I am so proud of my 7 year old boy. I asked him if he ate his lunch and he said he ate everything except for his cheesestring. I asked him why he didn't eat it and he said he gave it to anothe rlittle boy in his class that didn't have a snack
I almost started crying. I am so happy that I am raising such a compassionate and caring little boy.

I knew you were heading back to work soon, but I didn't know you started working already. How is it going overall? It's a big adjustment. I've been there.

It's really hard to get the kids up and out the door so early. I work from 8-4. I've made a career change and I'm now working from home.

That's my sister's biggest stress of the day with her three children.

She sometimes feels like she's having a heart attack due to the anxiety of trying to just get out the door.

It's the only time of day she feels that way.

That's awesome! I'm glad you were able to do it so quickly!

Are you teaching via an internet school now? Or is this a complete career change to something entirely different?

Hey AnonChick...

I have a beautiful bunch of lillies next to my computer that smell divine. Seeing as you are into organic chemistry (?) what's your view on the benefits of the aforementioned aroma? I find that whole subject fascinating.

OK, anyone get snow? We got a few flurries here and there (I'm in Green Bay, Wisconsin) this weekend but nothing that actually lasted. We're all disappointed- everyone in this house LOVES snow (until about March, LOL. That's when it starts to get old and you just want it to be warm out already!!).

A bit here and there but nothing to speak of...and it's mid November! It was so pretty out at lunch, I was thinking I could count on one hand the number of days I've even put on a coat this fall....then, while I was running errands after work, a freak cold, windy storm blew through. We had some rain/snow mix and it was super windy...It's already gone...weird weather this year....

My studies are specific to aromatherapy - which isn't really about smells per se - it's more about aromatic plants and their chemical components. A person could have no sense of smell at all (my dad has this disorder), and still get benefits from essential oils.

Lillies aren't used in aromatherapy, probably because their oils are too difficult to extract. However, some lillies have similar smells to night-blooming jasmine, which *is* used in aromatherapy. So I'd have to wonder if perhaps they share similar chemical components. A certain proportion of esters and phenols would be my guess.

If my guess is correct, then it would possibly trigger the production of seratonin in the brain, which acts as an antidepressant.

I'll have to look that up and get back to you on it. It's something I was curious about, myself, since night-blooming jasmine doesn't grow well in New England and I do have lillies in my garden because they smell so delicious
