As one of those long-timers, it's great.

Local control of schools has not happened yet. I think it will though.

If by some miracle Amazon HQ2 ends up here it will be such a game-changer, it could possibly create a boom town like Philadelphia hasn't experienced in 100 years.

I swear I have to be among the very few older people who generally loves many new things and change. The reason for that, I suppose, was my career where change was normally expected.

I like change when it fits & it works. I dislike change for the sake of change. That's because of what I did for a living. We were big fans of the KISS principle.

I know you have a few years on me, but I'd say I also fit that description.

Developers Present Initial Plan to Redevelop Chocolate Factory - OCF Realty

Figured this was post worthy since its a rather large project, and a cool adapative reuse effort.

I think most posters here are advocates for changes that will improve the city, regardless of age.

Imo, the chocolate factory has the potential to be the lynch pin that gets more commercial retail along Washington and in the surrounding area. It’s so desolate right now. I hope this happens.

It’s ironic that the developer released plans the day they did because The NY Times has an article that specifally mentions the lot and how the GOP tax credit for historical properties might hamper the redevelopment.

Not only will the tax plan most likely halt the revival of old buildings in the city, the Trump plan is looking like a tax increase on a lot of us, at least if you fill out a W2

"Desolate" really isn't the right term for that stretch of Washington Avenue.

It's just that most of the businesses along it are not retail stores. Many are wholesalers and companies in the building and design trades that don't need to lure passers-by in.

I am concerned about the possible loss of the historic tax credit too, however.

And didn't Comcast want to buy Verizon the other potential suitor for 21st Century Fox?
