Perhaps NJ would be 'Philly lite' then,I've seen some of that there.
But actually you could have all that stuff now,I still prefer the 'boring' country thank you

I was born and raised in Philadelphia. As such, I look at it and wish things were better here, particularly crime and diversity. Other things I am not happy with here is traffic and the overall mindset of those both within the city ("ghetto") and those in the suburban and rural areas ("uppity" and the opposite of what most would consider "down-to-earth.") In any event, given the greater Philadelphia region of PA, NJ, and DE I would prefer to live in a nice section of the City of Philadelphia proper. I am a city boy, but that should not necessarily equate to being "ghetto." I'd also like to live in a "green" city with abundant greenery... moreso than Philadelphia, although parts of Fairmount Park are okay... but too much of the city is a concrete jungle. I'd like more diversity... being all Black and White does not count as "diverse" in my book. Ideally, I'd also like a city that snowed more in the winter. Mountains are also a definite bonus. With all those factors in place, I think I'd consider PORTLAND, OREGON (albeit not much snow) as a place I'd consider living, or perhaps back to Rhode Island (any city in Kent or Providence County) as I lived in the past (albeit no mountains).

When I lived in the Philly area, I always wanted to move to Hawaii.
Lots of sun and tropical lifestyle.
I'm living in Austin, Texas now and I've thought about moving back to the Pocono area of PA, like East Stroudsburg, because all my friends and family are still in Philly and it's not that far. But my husband I are moving to Southern Oregon soon. Ever since I moved from Philly to Albquerque, I've dreamed of living in Oregon. Awesome state! So beautiful, too! Lots of moving and dreaming for us. Hopefully, this will be the last move for a while.

More accepting? Hey now... Where are the two states with legalized gay marriage and two more with civil unions? Go to Providence, the Berkshires and basically all of Vermont. Not everywhere in New England is like Greenwich, Connecticut.

I moved from the city when I was a teenager and dream of going back to Philly, after being in other cities like Chicago, NYC, and Boston I do not see much of a difference in them. They are all diverse. Philly is very diverse and not just black and white like mentioned above. I love it. However, I have considered moving to Portland, Oregon as well for a reason I really do not know, it just seems really nice.

Well, I'm a 17-year Philadelphian and I don't dream of moving anywhere. This IS the best city in the US to live, probably 100 times better than New York, Boston, DC, Chicago, or LA. Those other cities are just hype and everyone's got big egos. People in Philly are down to Earth, and the cost of living isn't a rip-off compared to the mentioned cities neither.

It does seem that way. I don't meet many transplanted Philadelphians anywhere.
