This could easily be solved by having just a few officers continuously walking up and down the main retail corridors of CC and other neighborhoods. Instead, the few times I EVER see them in Center City they are standing in groups talking (if not sitting in cars). Of course we should prosecute retail theft, but if the police "can't do anything"- what's stopping them from walking around?

Do people need athletic wear that badly?

I agree.

Same with the 'patrol' cars in my neighborhood ... instead of patrolling they like to sit and play on their phones. To be fair, maybe for the past 25 years I've just seen them on their break.

I'm not anti-cop, and I know it's a dangerous job that requires a certain amount of bravery, but I'm starting to think of it as a lazy man's job.

Twenty-nine-year-old father of FIVE out illegally riding dirt bikes through the streets of Philly and all we have is news on his vigil and that his family is "looking for answers."
https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news...ekend/3634700/

Here's a couple of answers:
1. Don't illegally ride your dirt bike through city streets and then harass normal drivers.
2. Try acting like a 29 year old man as opposed to a 12 year old boy.
3. Don't impregnate women like it's a game of pop a mole.
4. Maybe get a job, or more like three jobs, considering you had FIVE children to support. Oh wait, that's society's job to raise your kids, I totally forgot. Nevermind then...

This story should have led with, "Why was a 29 year old man illegally driving a dirt bike through town when he had five children to support? Society is 'looking for answers.'"

What is wrong in this country?

A gay navy vet got beaten half to death in Brewerytown (30th and Jefferson) while walking his dog past a group partying in a playground. The dangers of moving to a gentrifying neighborhood.

Story going national, of course, from the NY Post:

'Navy veteran brutally beaten while walking his dog in Philadelphia: ‘Not have expected this to happen in my own neighborhood'
By Nicholas McEntyre

I dunno, walking your dog at 11:30pm on a Saturday night in "Brewerytown'' past a large group of ''kids''. Naive even if he's a 'Navy Commander Vet

Most likely cuz he was a white dude out walking his dog or was it cuz he's gay, or both?

Actually Amber St. between Dauphin and York St. Glad to be gone but, still have siblings in that area. What is he doing out at 11:30 at night. Should have been armed and had an attack dog
So...hate crime laws dont matter? The reason for the attack is very relevant. If its sexual orientation then its could be a hate crime, if its racial it could be a hate crime...though hate crime laws arent typically applied when the victim is white..but either way.

Rename a street after him in CC.
