It's one of the worst areas in the country, from what I understand.

Oh, I bet you did not see a single septa cop, right?
Nope, but I literally ran into a cop coming out of City Hall station because he was staring at his cell phone in a group of about 10+ cops doing nothing.

I'd always heard that this was the largest open-air heroin/prostitution market anywhere.

Well, I can tell you it was very different years ago than it is today. There were at least 2 movie theaters, on 52nd between Market and Locust, that I can recall along with other amenities. Tbh, 60th and Market is worse than 52nd and Market.

And rebuilding the El, which got delayed at least once, destroyed a lot of retailers who were probably just hanging on anyhow. Great Recession didn't help either.

Sounds about normal. Sigh. The latest terror attack in NY brought out some in Suburban Station yesterday. A canine unit(??).

Whoever is left, wrt to MOVE, has been peaceful ever since.

There's an interesting convergence of events with them because May 13, 1985 was the same day that ground was broken for Liberty Place One.
Kind of forgot about MOVE and this made me read some recent articles about them. I lost respect when I remembered that they support cop killer mumia.

I don't mind if they're doing something and occasionally coming together to talk/discuss. I would have thought they'd be walking around City Hall, taking turns watching different areas, helping people. But why are they mobbed together doing nothing but getting in the way for people trying to walk through? One of those boneheads was talking on the phone with a family member on Facetime the other day. Others make jokes, laugh with each other, do nothing. These people get paid a lot of money!

This Commissioner is seriously useless.

The commish is a joke! If nothing else one of the best things Nutter ever did was to hire outside of the PPD. PPD is too inbred.

During the Open Streets thing instead of patrolling along 3rd street on bikes, they hung out doing nothing at 3rd and Callowhill. And you absolutely can not say anything to them directly. Well, I can't. Maybe you can.
