the 155 degree heat is precisely why I moved here. I worked outside for 30 plus years in upstate new york and that was hell. PHX rocks!

If it gets to 155, I don't think we'd be alive to talk about it.

One year in Chicago (1995) the heat index was officially 125F--------106F ambient temperature. That was the year that at least 600 people died in that heat wave.

This thread is nearly 10 months old. Why would someone reignite this thread?

People do this from time to time. I've seen two year old threads resurrected.

If one thinks it is hot in Phoenix, they should check out the air tempetures in and around Baghdad, Iraq during the summer

Then, stop and think of our troops wearing full body armor. AND, dealing with winds that are more than a "breeze".

If you do that - you will think that Phoenix summers are the coming of the ice age!

It snowed in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest this week and they are experiencing unseasonably cool temps in the 40s and 50s.

Kind of ironic since that is the part of the country that has the highest concentration of global warming zealots.

It was a freak occurance. The people that died were elderly and didnt have a/c. You know how many old folks would die in AZ every year if they didnt have a/c?

Your point being?

If we are going to play this game: suppose Chicago lost its sources of energy and people could not keep warm during an Arctic winter?

BTW: till not so long ago; many sections of the country did not have AC yet people somehow survived the summers............Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Wash DC, and even Phoenix.

Many people in the world live in extreme heat and have no A/C. Their mindset is one of acceptance. I try to remind myself of this when I start to feel myself moaning.
