Just discovered this site. I went to school one year with Gary Klahr.

I lived in Phoenix from 1949 (2nd grade) through 1959, then again attending ASU in the mid-60's. I'm familiar with the area just west of the old airport boundary, and the area around Central from Osborn to Camelback. I had a newspaper route from Osborn to Indian School and 7th Ave. to Central. Also knew and hung out with a number of radio personalities of the day.

Glad to share any details or memories for those who go way back.

I-10 and Indian School don't intersect.

Assuming you mean the I-17?

There was a large drive-in movie theater there, the Indian Drive-In. We went there all the time.

Things generally weren't as run down anywhere in Phoenix back then. Even in very poor areas, people took better care of their homes.

Still trolling the west side, eh?

Most of us don't hate the west side like you do.

I like the dire warnings for "Poor White Trash" showing at both the Acres and Northern: "due to the abnormal subject matter of this motion picture no children allowed with or without their parents" and "special uniformed police will supervise admissions".....

is that a juicy enough story for the west side, hotashell??!!

Because this thread tends not to be about "awful" stories, from any part of the Valley. You will have to go elsewhere for those.
