Hi all: I am an young guy in a career of logistics, serving businesses and big companies. I may stay in Phoenix or move to Dallas. I wonder which city has more growth protentials for me. Which city has economic opportunities? Thank you. John

Both have good economies but Dallas has more opportunities... It's bigger, has more fortune 500 companies, and has one of the best economies of any major US city.

Phoenix is a nicer city and offers a much better quality of life but the economic opportunities in Dallas are much better. Dallas is probably the 4th best city in regards to economic opportunities in the country after NY, Chicago and SF. There are many Fortune 500 companies and a diverse job market which includes everything Houston has to offer in addition to IT/Telecommunications and transportation (Trucking, Air)

Sounds like Dallas is the way to go for an young person. Definitely, it is greener than Phoenix.

Can you better define logistics?
It seems an open term. Are there specializations within the field?
Both cities, for example, are home to major airlines. Both have major companies involved with the distribution of products. For example Avnet, in PHX, is a global leader in the distribution of tech products. That seems an opportunity for a logistics person, but then again it might be unrelated to your skill set.
Bottom line: Pick the city that has more opportunity for what you want to do in the coming years.

Of course, it's my opinion but then again someone will think that Phoenix offers better job opportunities too since this city is growing faster than Dallas both population-wise and economically speaking. Dallas is more or less built out whiel Phoenix still has unlimited opportunities. That being said, Dallas currently offers better opportunities because they are established while Phoenix has a long way to go.
Where Phoenix has an edge is it's potential. Phoenix has warm weather, proximity to the west coast, and beautiful natural scenery with the mountains typical of cities on the west coast. Phoenix is also becoming more liberal which also attracts people. It's going to continue to grow. Dallas, on the other hand, is a conservative city in the Bible Belt with horrible weather(hot summers and cold winters) and flat geography with no natural beauty. Dallas is also isolated in the middle of the country with no proximity to fun spots while Phoenix is drivable to LA, San Diego, Las Vegas and Mexico. This is why Phoenix will ultimately grow into another Los Angelas while Dallas will remain at it's current status, an economic powerhouse in the middle of nowhere with nothing else to offer aside from great jobs. If you think Phoenix lacks culture, check out Dallas. Dallas is all money and nothing else. Houston at least offers diversity and some culture.

Dallas city proper itself may not have quite as many people as Phoenix but the DFW area is bigger than Phoenix metro meaning there are more opportunities.

Just to set the record straight, The Phoenix area is not growing faster than the Dallas area it is percentage wise but not in actual numbers. These following Metros are growing faster than Phoenix: Atlanta, Dallas, Houston all three Metros are growing faster than Phoenix. And it appears that the inland empire of California including Riverside, Ontario and San Bernardino may be growing faster than Phoenix.
Yes a lot of people flocked to Phoenix in the past but now without job growth and facing a recession I don't think people will be flocking like before
plus when all the illegals leave that will definitely reduce the population.
