It's still NONsoon. Looks like 2-3 days of high humidity, a splash here and there with nothing for most of us, and then back to dry and 115 again by the weekend.

0.36 inch at Sky Harbor today bringing the season's total to 0.37 inches . Talk to me when Sky Harbor records 3 plus inches which is typical for the season start to finish. Not even close to average and Lake Roosevelt is at 44% water capacity and dropping.

It looks like 2.71 inches is the average over the 1896-2016 period, for the period June 15-Sept. 30 period. I'm not sure of shorter time-period averages, what time period were you looking at?

Some nice historical data back to 1896 is here: Monsoon tracker from NWS Tucson -- data for Phoenix and other cities

On the plus side, 2012-2015 were all above-average for Phoenix, including 2014, the year of that crazy September tropical flooding, which was the 7th-wettest.

The more I read about weather and the scientific/forecast discussions and so forth, the more I think, wow, it's a wonder it ever rains given how complicated it all is to get a strong monsoon thunderstorm going. Haha.

It seemed like 2015 we had a lot of good lightning shows ... haven't seen much in the way of light shows this year. It's nice we got some rain yesterday but we just haven't had enough days so far with the monsoon moisture in place...we need more long humid stretches to improve our chances.

I live in South Phoenix and we got totally drenched. A solid hour of heavy rain. Much needed. I just drove to work along Baseline and from 16th St to 32nd I've never seen so many trees down. Had to have been a microburst or something. Cleanup crews were out in full force.

That awesome, the rain that is. We got nothing much in the east valley. We did get a pretty sky though.

I heard Baseline was underwater this morning in many spots. I didnt get any rain in Scottsdale last night, but saw the show to the south of me. Must have been the monster that pummeled South Phoenix.
