It was a sarcastic comment based on your thought that you would start attending, nothing more. One in and one out. I'm going to guess it's done in AZ for the Coyotes if someone isn't subsidizing them. They had no option but Glendale 10 years ago and truthfully they still don't, there is no interest from any City in funding an arena. The only hopes are Native Land or a shared arena with the Suns but that takes away power from Coyotes as the Suns are driving that bus.

No Matter how good they are implies that it doesn't matter if they drastically improved. Additionally you are saying that location will impact your decision to travel. How are you not seeing your hypocrisy that you want the East Siders do what you won't do, against horrible traffic.

The thing is that they should have never went to Westgate, they were talked into it by an amazing deal from Glendale. Now that Glendale is removing support everybody is mad at the Coyotes. If it wasn't for NIMBYs it would have went to Scottsdale and I think they would be getting much better attendance.

It's done from the West Valley, they will not invest in the team if they are not getting paid by Glendale and not get attendance. If you want a better team you will have to let them go to a better location.

Mesa Might, but on this we will agree, Native land is pretty much it. Luckily Native land is in a good location and their only hope.

That's great though that you will still travel if they are good (and Traffic won't be bad), so they will get Hockey fans from the West valley and have more exposure in the East Valley. All they need now is a deal on the Res, and start investing in the team if attendance is good. I am hopeful.

it looks like Gary Bettman and the NHL just laid down an ultimatum:

NHL and Coyotes tell Arizona: Give us a new arena or we will leave

The Arizona Coyotes and National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman on Tuesday threatened to move the franchise out of Arizona if the Legislature does not approve $225 million in public financing for a new arena in downtown Phoenix or the East Valley.

Bettman sent a three-page letter to state Senate President Steve Yarbrough and House Speaker J.D. Mesnard encouraging them to push through a public-financing bill that is stalled in the Senate amid a lack of support from lawmakers. The struggling NHL franchise wants out of Glendale, saying it's not economically viable to play there even though that West Valley city financed its 13-year-old Gila River Arena specifically for the Coyotes.

It appears from this article that the reservation is no longer being considered as an option, based on that they are threatening to leave if legislature doesn't approve public financing.

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it's off to Canada they go.

Goodbye Coyotes, don't let the sound of crickets overwhelm you on the way out.

Hello Portland or Seattle!

PJ, I'm not sure the reservation is off the table just yet (but you're right they don't mention that option), like I've been saying, that's probably still Plan Z. Try and threaten the state legislation and see what happens with this bill, if they call your bluff, then move onto the Native American land plan. The whole situation is crazy and sad that it got to this point.

It's clear the writer of the article used a very tabloid-like tactic and created the headline to generate attention. If you read the actual article, Bettman makes no such ultimatum. The only thing Bettman said is that Glendale was not an option. If anything, the person who made the ultimatum was the owner, Andrew Barroway. He said the team is losing tens of millions of dollars playing in Glendale and if there wasn't a home in Arizona, they will relocate. None of this is new. The team has been saying for months that Glendale is not an option. The article did not reveal anything that we didn't already know. Of course the Coyotes are going to leave if they can't get an arena. Everyone knows that. We've been saying that for years. I suppose this article was intended for those who thought the team had a chance of remaining in Glendale.

Finally, someone on this thread insinuated the tribal land option is off the table. Again, nothing in the article states that. In fact, nothing in the article even discusses tribal land as an option.

I think the tribal land option is also a long shot. The tribe can provide land, but building the actual stadium will require a lot more money. The Coyotes can only invest 175-200 million. Who is going to pay for the rest?

The headline does follow from the statement though. The ultimatum is no Glendale, but that means build a new stadium or else.
