Just to take things in another direction (pun intended), head east and take pictures of the Superstition Mountains to the east as the sun sets and lights them up red and then purple.

I've never tried putting on film, but on a good sunset night the view from the Papagos off McDowell east of 64th street can be fantastic as you can see the city and the mountains

Don't be disappointed if there isn't a good sunset. You need clouds to have a good colorful sunset, and this time of year the clouds disappear until July, even though we've had a few straight days of clouds lately, along with rain!
