I am in Fox Chapel and for me it would take about an hour to drive to Latrobe or about 45 minutes depending on South Hill's traffic to PIT. That being said, I don't care which airport I drive to, but parking is free at Latrobe and it would be more relaxing to fly out of there.

Jam your gear into one bag or fed-ex them to your destination. A NON STOP flight with free parking is worth it to me.

I thought about that. No carrying luggage on the flight and it is waiting for you. You just have to do all the math. I would rather fly out of Latrobe anyway.

Thanks for posting this, Curtis. I'm sold!

Totally worth the drive. With less hassles parking and through security, it probably won't take much more time.

It was no brainer for me. 30min drive to Latrobe, $95 a person round trip (with all the extra fees included) to Ft Lauderdale, no bill for parking and the pilots let my kid sit in the captain seat once in FLL. You get exactly what you pay for... a seat on a plane that takes to point B, without the feeling of being raped.
The next cheapest flight out of PIT was for $200 before bag fees, which AirTran does have.

Nice to hear a real experience. Maybe that Latrobe Airport will really takeoff! Seriously, if it does maybe PIT will be even more of a ghost town.

If it does takeoff, Latrobe will become the most desirable bedroom community for the Pittsburgh metro.

They no doubt would treat you more like a gentleman or women in that area, due to its location. Hope it really goes well for Spirit in Latrobe and they offer service to the NYC area. That would be great!

Spirit considered adding flights to La Guardia, and another destinitation I forget, along with the Orlando flight, but decided against for now. Maybe NY will be in the cards next year...
