This is very exciting news, that Spirit is expanding their service for another alternative to dealing with the failing PIT airport. Hope it keeps going, so people in the Pittsburgh region can start flying cheap. The Ft. Lauderdale flights have been a huge success from Latrobe (Palmer). Wish they had cheap flights to the New York area, but maybe in the future. Oh, I heard the parking at Latrobe is free.

Interesting. I have been to Latrobe airport many times for many reasons, except catching a flight.

I have been keeping an eye on the flights that Spirit offers and may have to consider trying one out soon.

A friend of mine has family in Ft. Lauderdale and he has been flying out of there all the time. He said, it is so much nicer to fly out of there than PIT and of course about 1/2 price. Hope the growth continues.

l would like to see this "take off'" as well. A direct flight to Orlando at that price is excellent. We went to Ocala over Christmas and the flight costs were ridiculous.

Yeah, I have been driving to Florida these days. Just can't afford PIT. This will be a game changer for me. Wish they would fly to Tampa. That would be perfect!

I was going to drive down there but timing is last minute and stuff at work is not conducive right now time-wise. Plus I'm going alone. So I'm flying. Ugh.

Orlando is about 16 hours or so. With the right lead time and especially with someone else in the car, I'd be doing the drive.

Flights do seem expensive right now. I was looking at a flight to the New York area and that includes all the airports around there, but the cheapest I could find was $200+. That is too rich for my blood. Better to drive or take a bus.

Be very careful with Spirit Airlines. They have quite a reputation for sneaking in extra fees right and left. Your flight may be significantly more expensive than advertised.

Yes, but you can avoid much of the TSA thuggishness at Latrobe. As long as they do not have the cancer scanners I would be willing to pay more to fly out of there.
