The Koran follows many of the "stories" written in the 'holy' bible. Im sure there are extreamist christians who would like to bring that piece of fiction into the laws of every nation.
כ .
You are sure? Where are these Christian extremists hiding?
I can show you example after example of following the Quran TODAY.
We are not talking about a what if we are talking about what is.
How far back in history did you have to go for that? Point is, Christians do not embrace that type of violence and retribution in today's society. We embrace freedom, hence why most nations with Christian majorities are NOT theocracies. Can't say the same for Islam and muslims. With the overwhelming majority of the country defining themselves as Christian, surely these Christians could impose a theocracy here in America if they really wanted to, no?
Not Christians, rather a government that practices democracy and protects human rights! Christianity had nothing to do with this!

Why are you arguing History verses what is happening today...
Fact: We don't Stone people
Fact: Iran Does
You keep comparing America (or ok Christians) of 400 years ago to todays Iran,,,
I think your right, Those freaks are 400 years behind the times....You win... You are right...Congratulations

YOU are the one who interjected Christianity into this argument, and yes, it is because of Christians (not in spite of) that we enjoy democracy and the human rights that we do. It is because of Christian values that we hold human rights so dear, not Islamic values.
"Ashtiani, 42, will be buried up to her chest, according to an Amnesty International report citing the Iranian penal code. The stones that will be hurled at her will be large enough to cause pain but not so large as to kill her immediately."
This is punishment for alleged adultery, the confession for which came as a result of torture and language barrier.
Is this punishment going to be carried out because Iran's government is Islamic or because Iran's government is a bunch of crazy @ssho!es?
Not every country in the world strives to be like us or is like us. Different values, customs, and rules. They view life and death differently, have different levels and types of punishments for crimes. We are in no position to judge them, especially given this country's history and shameful treatment of blacks and native Americans, and the continuing presence of the conservative ideology.
The "Dixie" mentality here, as practiced by conservatives, remains among the worst in the world.

Except, much of Iran still supports the religious clerics. The Ayatollah has thousands in his army which consist of young people not old. You can make all the excuses you want, but the Islamic world needs to take responsibility for their barbarism. America has nothing to do with stoning this woman. I take you are Iranian or Muslim?

No, this was my initial post:
"This is why I am against religion, of any kind! These evil and sadistic punishments for moral crimes all have roots in religion. Even the bible has countless accounts of stoning for perceived moral crimes. "
If Christians are the reason we enjoy democracy, I would assume Christians would be on the forefront fighting for equal rights of women and homosexuals. I would also assume that Christians would be first to fight for teaching science, as a freedom of speech thing, in all our schools.

Exactly! What is sad is you never hear Muslims take responsibility and acknowledge there is a problem. They should be admitting there is a problem with their culture and society. Instead, they point to isolated Evangelical gay bashing etc but the reality is Christian nations are democracies whereas as 90% of Islamic nations are dictatorships that deprive people of civil rights. The facts speak for itself. Look at the world. Compare the Christian nations to the Islamic ones with regard to human rights and civil liberties!!! How can the Islamic culture improve if they are always in denial.
