Just don't know how realistically this could be accomplished. Especially considering how much economic and political the biggest multinational corporations have these days.
Outsourcing is real and it must be stopped, hundreds of thousands of American jobs are being sent overseas every year in order to better the lives of people in other countries. Many Americans are suffering because they are getting laid off due to the declining economy, then being forced to accept a pay cuts apon finding another job. Should we not worry about the American people first and foremost before worrying about others over seas? What are your feelings on this?
They tried this once before and it spawned the great depression. - Bad Idea!!
Same old thng we heard for deacdes about teh Japnese. face it its a world market and nothing is going to stop it, We can not afford the high prices for many thngs with the labor cost to produce in this country.
Thinking about it, I say don't stop offshoring. Let those multi-nationals offshore but tax the heck out of them for doing it. Call it a foreign cost of business tax or whatever.
But not every business, just those that offshore and have offices/labs/R&D/mini HQs in other countries. We don't need to punish China or India or Vietnam..we need to punish the US multi-nationals that started this whole scheme.
Then watch the locals become competitive and rise above them.
Mfg who owns a factory in China....cost to mfg is $.02..cost to bring back to US $5000.02
US Mfg who makes his own...cost $3.50
That would send a message loud and clear to those multi-nationals who don't give a hoot about anything but their bottom line.

The best way to stop outsourcing is to stop buying products made at the outsourced location. Admittedly, that is becoming very hard to do these days.
Did all ignorant people come together in one thread??
Outsourcing is still in its nascent stage. Get over it.
The flood is yet to come. Wait and see how it is in 2020
Corporate America will collapse if not for cheap labour. It's a vicious cycle. The dotcom crash of 2000 ensured cheap labour was not a perk, but a necessity. You can get all emotional as you want, as unemployment hits the highest in 9 months. But economics does not function by emotions.
They ain't shipping jobs overseas to give them a better life, they are shipping jobs to countries where there little or no worker's rights exist because it's cheaper to do so.

It may be cheaper for Corporate America to do so but it is hurting the average Joe. And yes it is giveing them a better life because they are doing well on the jobs were giveing them while we are here suffering, jobless without anywork with an overall high unemployment rate.

I agree, everything is made in Chine, Korea, Japan, India... Whatever happen to the good ol' days when you could get somethin that said made in the good ol' USA
