how is drawing a picture of mohammed 'sowing hatred'?
'splain, please.
Muslims are very strongly opposed to graven images. A drawing, painting, stained-glass window, or a statue of a deity would be patently offensive, and Molly Norris obviously knew that. "Everybody draw Mohammed day" was an intentional slap in the face to Muslims. She went out of her way to offend them.
I have absolutely no problem with her drawing and publishing anything she wants to. As a journalism major, I was taught that the first amendment is sacred.
I do not, however, think that she should be protected from the consequences of her actions.
Read my previous post. "As ye sow, shall ye also reap".
If you sow hatred, you shouldn't expect unicorns and rainbows to be your reward.
Cartoon=death sentence?
Reasonable in your world and that of Islam perhaps.
However I do agree, the Muslims will reap what they sow.

She got exactly what she bargained for.
Death? Are you sure you're a journalism major? Cause that kind of talk sounds more like a mo ho.

Actually,you might want to look into that...

The Qur'an does not explicitly forbid images of Muhammad, but there are a few hadith (supplemental traditions) which have explicitly prohibited Muslims from creating the visual depictions of figures under any circumstances.
We almost HAVE to go out of our way to offend people in order to neutralize the effect, especially when the offenses are so commonplace and can be all over the work via the internet in minutes. We can't have people running around threatening to behead anyone who accidental offends them and the only way to get past that is an overdose of offense. It's a tried and true strategy.
