A retired special education teacher on his way to a wedding in Orlando, Fla., said he was left humiliated, crying and covered with his own urine after an enhanced pat-down by TSA officers recently at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
“I was absolutely humiliated, I couldn’t even speak,” said Thomas D. “Tom” Sawyer, 61, of Lansing, Mich.

I think there are going to be more incidents like this, and the prosthetic breast thing. We really aren't up for all this. I'm curious the holiday traveling is going to go this year. This could all backfire if things get so bad that TSA agents wave people through because the backup is so bad and people start missing their flights. Angry mobs aren't pretty.
America moving another step towards becoming a police state.
If you don't have a problem with the pat downs or screenings then why don't you just come to the airport naked? Would save those of us who enjoy our privacy much needed time in those security lines at the airport.

This is what I suspected when I read the next comment. Not only is it embarresing to have something what is private revealed to all, but it has to be handled properly. If they wanted to LOOK in a private room is one thing. I hope he sues the scanner personally. It seems like anyone who isn't one hundred percent whole and in perfect health is expecially suspected of being a terrorist.
Seems to me the biggest terrorists we have at the airports now are the tsa staff. It should have have been required that this gentleman have his luggage retrieved and his appliance sealed and his clothes change before the plane took off and the screener should have been fired on the spot.
Those who advocate for the disabled need to get active and file a lawsuit forcing them to comply with the laws dealing with the disabled. This is without ANY justification and the idiots who they hire need to be fired immediatly should it happen once.
That's appalling. How humiliating for him..and there's plenty more stories that will be coming out in the near future I'm sure. Colostomies; prosthetic breasts in breast cancer patients; long term wound drains. An awful lot of people walking around (and flying) with such devices; can't imagine the sheer embarassment this will cause them.
I'm not flying on Wed, but I hope 'Opt-out' say is a smashing success.
Just remember folks, we're all safer because all those things mentioned in each post in this thread are possible terrorist weapons. Especially that tampon.
Due to his medical condition, Sawyer asked to be screened in private. “One officer looked at another, rolled his eyes and said that they really didn’t have any place to take me,” said Sawyer. “After I said again that I’d like privacy, they took me to an office.”
