These congresspeople have been duly elected and are still in office.

Some people on this thread act like there's never been a nuclear arms treaty before. I know some of you are young, and some didn't start following politics until last week, but geez, inform yourselves before blasting off!

Oh, I agree. I was sarcastically deflating the other poster's delusional world (the one where a quarter of the American population is "America" and everyone else is an enemy.)

The US offensive and defensive capabilities come up on top in this treaty, why would the chicken hawks here object to it?

Why negotiate a nuclear arms treaty with a nation who is actively assisting Iran in going nuclear?

Why negotiate a nuclear arms treaty with a nation who is actively selling arms to the dictator Hugo Chavez?

Why negotiate a treaty with a nation who invaded one of our allies, Georgia, in recent years?

Those questions make too much sense.....

Oh ...and didn't the Russkies invade Georgia 3 years ago??

Yes in response to Georgia aggressively shelling South Ossetia.

That's an offensive disparaging ethnic term for Russians similar to the 'N' word for Blacks here in the US.

Run out of arguments much, must drag your knuckles?

Again to those who don't like this treaty. Would you like Russia be able to build as many nukes as they want? Did you have a problem withe Reagan pushing for this in the 80's and Bush 41 signed the original start treaty in 1991?

As for this being pushed quickly, again everything has been available since April, many committee hearings on it were held. Hell, when Demint wanted to read this on the Senate floor, he was told point blank that it was available to read for eight months and if he thought it was so important perhaps he sould not have skipped those seven committee meetings on the Start Treaty that he did.
