Yep - this forum seems to draw a lot of that, and it really scares me.

No one seems to have a problem with that - that's free speech of course, can't be censored - even though he clearly wanted Bush killed.
Yup, it is... and I don't recall us calling for censorship of Beck, Palin, etc, as you claimed earlier. I, for one, support free speech for ALL - even those with whom I strongly disagree. I have no problem with people saying what they want, as long as they're responsible for what occurs as a result.

Your point? It was wrong, of course... but so are the hateful still-frames I've seen from FOX News, and I still support their right to free speech.

Really? There are 300 million people in this country, and it frightens you that a few people wouldn't shed a tear if someone offed another individual? The US is a bloodthirsty society by its very nature. The country was founded on blood, grown on blood, unified on blood, and expanded its power on blood. It's essentially ingrained into your DNA.

I don't advocate offing anybody (yes, including those even you probably state you're OK with offing ie death penalty prisoners), but I don't get terrified by noticing that some people don't share that view. It's nothing but being naive to not be cognizant and aware that others out there, while harmless, would probably raise a glass if someone else got rid of a person they didn't like.

Default Was Gabrielle Giffords maybe a victim of antisemitism?

She was Jewish.

The shooter was a wacko who had Mein Kampf in his collection of books.

Me too. I also think people should be careful, as threats against a public official (especially the freakin' President) are taken very seriously... we might be anonymous to each other, but our IPs are all logged on the site.

That's why I use an anonymous proxy. Problem solved. I never threaten or wish harm on public officials, but I don't trust TPTB's interpretation of my words, nor the overanxious progressives who want to "bust a conservative" by reporting any sort of vague statement. I'm safe from you folks and the admins.

As a Jewish American myself, of course that came to mind... but at this point, I can only think he's a non-specific wacko. Further speculation on my part will be reserved until further evidence.
