"According to academic John Esposito, one of the most defining features of Islamic fundamentalism is belief in the "reopening" of the gates of ijtihad.[5]Graham Fuller describes Islamic fundamentalism not as distinct from Islamism but as a subset, "the most conservative element among Islamists." Its "strictest form" includes "Wahhabism, sometimes also referred to as salafiyya. ... For fundamentalists the law is the most essential component of Islam, leading to an overwhelming emphasis upon jurisprudence, usually narrowly conceived."[6] Another American observer, Robert Pelletreau, Jr., assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, believes it the other way around, Islamism being the subset of Muslims "with political goals ... within" the "broader fundamentalist revival".[7] Still another, Martin Kramer, sees little difference between the two terms: "To all intents and purposes, Islamic fundamentalism and Islamism have become synonyms in contemporary American usage."[8]"
That doesn't help anything or anyone out. It's a bunch of academics failing to agree on the definitions of "Islamism" and "Islamic fundamentalism" and where the boundary between the two lies. Where the threat to me as a Westerner in my own country is found is anyone's guess.
You are only one of the many supporters. You can spread all the propaganda you want to that you have been instructed to spread. It will have zero effect. Have fun trying though!
As I said, your LIES are stacked high today.

What's hilarious is that the Left thinks that they can team up with Islam and they won't be suppressed by them when they take over. Islam will whip the Left right into Sharia right along with everyone else.
So now you think there's a conspiracy between the Democrats and radical Islam? I suppose you think the Dem's were behind 911 too?
It was an outright personal attack on everyone on this dicussion board left of the far right. An obvious break with reality, anyone what would spew so many outright LIES in one post is no longer thinking logically and should no longer to be taken seriously in any way what so ever.

Yes, yes who woukd want to listen to academics.
Not much of a guess, 9/11, Fort Hood, Time Square. They are coming after us. We can bury our heads in the sand or we can look after our own interests.
The desire by radical Muslims for a revival of the caliphate is one of the worst kept secrets on the planet.
Of course, the Islamic world has had 1600 years to prove they hate each other more than they hate the West, and that's why a unitary Caliphate was never more than pretend in the first place.
It seems to be news to some people in this forum. Also, because a caliphate will never be achieved doesn't lessen the fact that militant Muslims will create a great deal of violence in the west in their futile quest.

Well, what I carried away from the report (which Beck will be doing as a series all week long, by the way) is that a group of Muslim organizations would love to get a caliphate government restored all across the world (they have organizations on almost every continent) including North America. But it's true various factions (Sunni, Shia, etc.) fight like cats and dogs and such division may be the Achilles Heel of this ignoble ambition.

Matthew 12:25 "A house divided against itself is laid to waste".
Well this article serves 2 purposes. It points out that the MB wasn't taken by surprise as some have suggested. It also points out that MB doesn't want to be seen as out fornt on this so they can continue to have the support of dupes. Their cover was blown when El Baradei claimed to be working on a coalition government with the MB.
I'm sure if the MB thought ahead of time that the protests would be as successful has they have turned out to be they would have joined the effort earlier. The fact is that the MB were late supporters to this particular protests. Even Beck has admitted that there are many reasons that Egyptians would be willing to protest against the current Egyptian government, no dupes are required.
But Beck's conflating the protests MB's desire to create a Caliphate is simply fear mongering.
Is it really that surprising that the various opposition groups are willing to work together. After all the MB (among other things) holds seats in the current Parliament and in 2005 they won 20% of the seats.
The Brotherhood, which for decades focused on building networks of social services and religious instruction, made political participation a focal point of its strategy in 2005, and startled many by winning 20 percent of the seats in Parliament.
Is it part of the Mormon beliefs to be an arrogant sh)thead?
No, it's not. If Beck were Jewish, would you have said, "Is it part of Judaism to be an arrogant sh)thead?"
