One of my biggest pet peeves are those who enter the freeway and attempt to merge with traffic going well below the posted speed limit. It has a ripple effect, causing those in the right lane to move to the left lane, slowing down everyone.
I nearly got in quite the accident a few weeks ago because some D-bag decided traffic was going too fast to merge and he STOPPED on the on-ramp, presumably to 'wait his turn'. I had to swerve around him and jump on the freeway before I caused a crash (to the 5 or 6 people directly behind me) and when I looked back he was still sitting on the side of the onramp with his blinker on
How to do what? On I-10, everything west of Anthony, Texas is a huge improvement. Your state is an eyesore. Period. Ugly, oversized, stinks of oil wells and paper mills, and has retarded speed limits. 80 during the day in West Texas, and 65 at night? What...you Texans can't see or drive at night? Apparently so. You guys drive so badly, that you build loops around even the smallest towns with hopes that people don't drive through and kill people. It's either that, or the towns are so ugly, that you don't want people to drive through'em and see what they look like.
Yawn
On Arizona state highways (also called state routes) and U.S. routes in Arizona, the speed limit is 65 miles per hour.

Consider the scenario:
Speed limit is 70 mph, a speed you're traveling at. I am in front of you going 65 mph on the left lane, which is within legal limits. Would you be okay just following me the rest of the way?
If we are passing traffic that is in the right lane, then I don't have a problem.
Yes, it's not your place to restrict them.
If I choose to speed, there could be several reasons.
What if I'm on my way to a hospital... and you're control issues cause my spouse or child to die?
It's not your place to control my actions, now is it? Are you a cop?
What needs to really happen is real enforcement of the speed limits. If you are doing greater than 10% of the posted speed limit, and you don't have an medical emergency, or are an emergency vehicle responding to an immediate situation, you need to get ticket.
Additionally, with no emergencies, every hour or so, 2 police vehicles (or however many is required to be in each lane of the highwway), driven by people hired just for the purpose of maintaining posted speed limits, need to be lined up side by side and drive precisely at the speed limit.
Let's be serious, if the speed limit is 55, and you insist on doing 65, how much sooner do you arrive at your location? A friend of mine did a test during the course of several weeks, I drove the speed limit, he did 10mph over, (sometimes more), and for 27 mile commute, the MOST time he got to the destination before me was about 4 minutes. There were actually several times I got there first.
If you leave for wherever it is you are trying to get to so late that you have to speed to get to where you are going, to get there on time, then you really need to think things through and leave a bit earlier. Intentionally breaking traffic laws because you think you have to drive faster than the posted speed limits, really is stupid. You don't end up getting to where you are going that mush faster.
If you have your kids in the car, think of the example you are setting for them! That it's perfectly legitimate to intentionally break the law, because A), you want to, or B), Because everyone else is doing it. Good job!
I love it when people try to push their agenda on others by using "it's for the childrenzzzzzzz!"
It's none of your business what others do, you're not a law enforcement officer.
Got some control issues?

next?
No, the scenario doesn't call for that. Let me repeat.
Max speed limit: 70 mph.
I'm going 65 mph (legal) on left lane (per you, should always be legal).
You were going 70 mph, until you're behind me. Now, you're following me at 65 mph.
Does this present you with any problem? Remember, I'm not breaking laws as you would like to see them (driving within speed limit, and allowed to drive on left lane).

Maybe he was looking for a clue on what "merge" means.
It is times like that when I wish I was driving my 87 Nissan 4x4 pickup. I would slam into his rear-end, knowing that my pickup would not be damaged, and when asked about it by the police, I would inform them that I was just helping them get into first gear.
Morons like that have no business endangering the lives of others, and should not be allowed to drive.

If there were five or more vehicles following immediately behind you, then this scenerio would be in violation of Alaska law and you would be cited. Even if you were speeding at 120 mph, if there are five or more vehicles following close behind you, you will be cited for violating Alaskan law.

You've got to be kidding, right? Trying to get a reaction, okay you got one. Although I hate to do it because of how it affects everybody else. The only solution I've found to drivers like you is once I've finally got around you to go even slower than you are okay. There's a point for everybody and when you are finally fed up and try to go around I'm there before you as well.
