Or we Americans use it when we choose to use it, and use the non-metric when it's more practical to use it.

We should switch to metric. The USA is falling behind in science and all areas of science use metric. We should start by having our school curriculum switch to metric and then after some time start switching everything over to metric.

Science already uses metric everyone that wants to get into science learns to use metric so that's a moot point you made. The rulers you buy in school are one foot, and one side is marked off in inches and the other in centimeters with millimeter markings.

Kids are falling behind in science because of an emphasize on left-wing social brainwashing, instead of concentrating on purely academics. Leave the babysitting to the parents, not the teachers

what the imperial system is simple to get from miles to inches you only need to divide by 63,380, if thats not easy i don't know what is.

It's funny. My son spent a good few of his formative in Japanese schools while I was overseas on government business, and he sometimes has problems rectifying inches vs. centimeters.

For Americans the metric system is too complicated to understand.

Most American parents believe the opposite, let the schools do the baybsitting and deal with behavioral problems. If the kids don't learn, blame the schools and teachers.
