Ahh yes, its just removing of the vast majority of the Collective Bargaining Rights. Lets not fool each other, this isn't about the other concessions, this is about the Collective Bargaining Rights issue, which is something Walker did not campaign on.
Oh I know full well that this is ALL about the collective bargaining rights from the union's point of view. The union mobsters stand to lose the ability to forcibly extract dues from teachers who don't wish to pay them.
And if he didn't campaign on it, then WHY was the AFT-Wisconsin Union circulating fliers stating that he planned to "curb the union's power to negotiate"?????????????? Answer that, please.
The Badger State was actually in pretty good shape. It was supposed to end this budget cycle with about $120 million in the bank. Instead, it's facing a deficit. Why? I'll let the state's official fiscal scorekeeper explain (pdf):
More than half of the lower estimate ($117.2 million) is due to the impact of Special Session Senate Bill 2 (health savings accounts), Assembly Bill 3 (tax deductions/credits for relocated businesses), and Assembly Bill 7 (tax exclusion for new employees).
In English: The governor called a special session of the legislature and signed two business tax breaks and a conservative health-care policy experiment that lowers overall tax revenues (among other things). The new legislation was not offset, and it helped turn a surplus into a deficit [see update at end of post]. As Brian Beutler writes, "public workers are being asked to pick up the tab for this agenda."

Cutting the education budget, and concessions from the Union aren't the issue. Collective Bargaining Rights is the issue, that appears no where in that article.
Who cares if it's on his website? He ran on that campaign promise. Just for your information, there is a budget crisis going on in this country, but I doubt you care about that. Just spend spend spend, that's what the libs and neocons do.
His campaign is on his web site. He describes his positions in some detail, including the budget issue. Yes he indicated their has to be concessions and hard choices made, but nowhere does he even hint that he wanted to take away the collective bargaining power of the Unions. He knew, correctly, he would never be elected in Wisc, if he had disclosed that as his objective.
Shhh....don't call it "forced extraction of dues". Call it "paying your fair share to be a part of this great collective".
