Asking for a baptismal or circumcision record certainly doesn't fit the Constitution.

If all they simply asked for a state certified birth certificate its one thing, but they are trying to play a birther shout out game, by asking for documents that in some cases aren't even provided, or hell aren't even legal. Of course if they were simply asking for a certified birth certificate they could play the birther game since that has already been released, and it meets all U.S state Dept requirements. So that would have defeated the whole purpose of attempting to throw the birthers a bone.

We do these in our office frequently. We do not issue "certificates". Whoever thought this up is nuts! (No pun intended). What about women candidates?

This will be hilarious.

If this doesn't get vetoed, the Obama campaign will dutifully forward one Hawaiian COLB. Arizona must now:
  • Either accept the candidacy on basis of the COLB, in the process enraging both birthers, baggers and bigots, or:
  • Get dragged in front of the Supreme Court for a quick introduction to the words "full faith and credit".
No, you don't get to make your own rules for Presidential qualifications. Not yours.

I am actually surprised they're pushing it this far.

I'm surprised anything out of Arizona lately surprises you...

The law has no meaning, COLB is accepted as proof of citizenship by the federal government and all 50 states in the union. The Democratic nominee for President will be Barrack Obama, and he'll be on the ticket in Arizona.

I sure hope not.

We the people need to do whatever we can to stop the scam artist from pulling the largest fraud onto the people of this country.

What are you going to do when many more states require their OWN state requirements that does not allow him on their states ballot.

Even if the moron is on the ticket he wont be carrying that and many other states anyway.

A state verified and certified birth certificate that meets all U.S State Dept requirements shows he is valid under the Constitution. Period. Arizona or any other state can attempt to craft whatever language they want, but its not going to keep someone who meets all of the legal requirements as Obama does off the ballot.

well....... they do exist:

but, like the baptism certificates, appear to have no rules, standards or guidelines either at a local, state or federal level for authenticity of information contained. there isn't even a standardized rule for the format of the documents or who is authorized to distribute them. and since the US constitution forbids there being any religious test for public office the certificates don't have to come from a church, synagogue, priest, rabbi or other religious figure. AZ has made it possible for me to walk in with a circumcision certificate from Der Weinerschnitzel claiming my birthday was 01/01/1901 ......... and they'd have to accept it, under their own law, as proof of my eligibility for POTUS!
