We already have liberal land.. it's called Detroit. And to no surprise, they've ran out of 'other people's money' because all the hard working and honest people left years ago. So now they want to try to fleece money out of conservative-land... ie... the rest of the state!
Politics almost never has anything to do with how wealthy a state is. Usually it depends on what goods or services they have to offer, and whether or not those goods or services are in demand.
If your state has a lot of oil, for example, then it will probably be wealthy. If it is a tax haven with not much else to offer (like New Hampshire), then it will attract a lot of rich people whose wealth will probably be made elsewhere, but whose presence will give the appearance of it being a wealthy state.
The only real issue is whether the bulk of an area's wealth will end up going to a select few, the majority, or something in between.
Feudalism is very similar to libertarianism in that it had a decentralized structure where the majority of power, property and profit rested in the hands of the feudal lords, and the lords determined how their 'employees' lived. This is essentially the net result of privatizing everything... total ownership of all resources by a select few and the only other option is to work for someone else who is doing exactly the same thing.
Think of that landlord you had that you really hated. Imagine that's EVERY landlord, and imagine you have no choice but to work for that landlord (or lady, but probably a lord).
I would prefer to live a libertarian life within the protection of a liberal government. I would have really enjoyed being an entrepreneur if I did not have to place my families survival at risk. I really would have liked to be a old fashioned remittance man. Being retired with a decent pension and affordable health care is pretty darn close.
Living in a conservative nation with its religious and social intolerance would have been impossible. I will not tolerate having to bent to social conformity.
The Libertarian State would be too darn dangerous. It would likely be a war zone like Somalia or most Mideastern states.
Somalia has a strong court system?
