"As recession gripped the country, the consumer’s love affair with green products, from recycled toilet paper to organic foods to hybrid cars, faded like a bad infatuation."

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/22/bu...l?pagewanted=1

Seems like when the economy heads south and prices soar, people aren't too green anymore preferring the cheaper non-green products. I'm still waiting for them to figure out the expense of electric cars.

When the President says "under my plans for cap and trade, electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket," then goes on to press people to buy electric cars does he think the American people are that stupid? Today it's recycled toilet paper and cleaning products getting the heave ho from consumers. Tomorrow it will be those toy cars...But we all need to buy those screwy light bulbs (which, by the way, we can't pin on Obama).

If presenting/promoting an opinion/idea to others is to assume that the audience is stupid, you're doing just that. The President is in a leadership position who has to consider the welfare of the nation and think far into the future. People, OTOH, tend to live in the present, especially those who refuse to move forward. That doesn't make them stupid, it just makes them naive.

Maybe corporate "green" is receeding but individual "green" is booming.
Farmer Markets are packed each weekend. I have friends that raise grass fed beef and cannot keep up with the demand and have a waiting list of people who want meat.

The "green" is there and very affordable. You just have to find it in the right place.
Corporate/Government is NOT the right place though.

Even Wallymart is giving up on "green" and going back to it's original store theme.
Then again, they tried to attract more upscale customers with money to buy these items and it failed to produce.

I'm sure there are still enough crunchy granola idiots to provide GE with another Obama approved tax-free year.

If Americans would lose their worship of materialism, that would be "green" in itself. But then the entire economy would collapse since our economy is based on the greed of materialism.

Well you can take solace in the fact that progressives will have us living in caves after they are done manipulating the economy.

Greed is Good. Greed is Green. More Greed. More Green. MORE GREEN!!! Money that is.

The problem Wally world had with "green" and "upscale" is, besides Wally World and upscale being an oxymoron, most people that can afford to shop else where would not be caught dead in a Wall-Mart. I do not shop there because I disagreee with all of their policies.
