LOL....you're absolutely right. That's the point of this thread. To give Bush some ownership to catching bin Laden. We spent all that money and sent thousands of Americans to their deaths in Iraq just so we can catch this one guy who will lead us to bin Laden. Why we didn't just intensify our search for bin Laden in Afghanistan and Pakistan in the first place is a sign of the stupidity of George Bush (and of this thread). That could have saved us a lot of grief. Not to mention money (something these so called "fiscal conservatives" are obsessed about). But the wingnuts here will do anything they can, advance any ludicrous argument to rationalize their boneheaded Iraq invasion and to deny Obama the honor of having exterminated bin Laden.

Save the fairy tale...

9/11 happened because we didn't have a single CIA agent on the ground inside Afghanistan before the attack. Bush, not willing to be blindsided again, erred on the side of knowing when Iraq became the question and it paid off. You may not think ridding the world of Hussein was worth the war, but then how do you justify the lives lost in Afghanistan to just to bring a handful of terrorists to justice?

Iraq wasn't officially involved in the 9/11 attacks, they never the less harbored those who did, and isn't that the reason we invaded Afghanistan? Obama has no issues crossing borders to kill people we've deemed terrorists and starting new wars without consent of the Congress. That's all good in the liberal realm. So it seems it isn't what is done but who is doing it that matters to the liberal.

Instead, the officials said, it reflects a belief that the agency can better deal with high-level threats by focusing on regional trends rather than on specific organizations or individuals.
Focusing on regional trends rather than specific organization/individuals implies that the Bush Administration did not appreciate nor did nothing with the supposed "Intelligence" they gleaned.

BTW, what is meant by "focusing on regional trends" anyway?

No it doesn't. But you are free to assume it does.

"Intelligence officials said Alec Station was disbanded after Robert Grenier, who until February was in charge of the Counterterrorist Center, decided the agency needed to reorganize to better address constant changes in terrorist organizations."

Notice all the NeoConfused who've been so intent on laying off the Iraq War to Congress are now so anxious to make it Bush's war? Like rats to a sailing ship

It was liberals trying to lay the war on Bush, while ignoring Congressional authorization, and claiming the war was "illegal", and based upon lies.
